gearing up for the holidays!

9:38 PM

cohen ran around telling everyone "happy valentine's day, gobble gobble" on thursday. no matter how many times i corrected him, "it's thanksgiving, baby," he insisted on it. i let him, he's adorable. it hadn't even dawned on me that as soon as that day was over, i would only have a month to prepare for christmas. the decorations, the gifts, the wrapping and concealing of said gifts, the tree. the bean's 2nd birthday just days after christmas! cohen had me thinking i still had a good 9 months=) gotta get a move on!

i had picked up an ornament making kit to pull out as back up for the kiddos if we ran out of things to entertain them while the adults were preparing our thanksgiving feast. fortunately, the weather was beautiful (which is the norm here in texas) and we spent most of the day playing outside. we even had the luxury of eating in the backyard as the sun was setting under twinkling outdoor lights.

it's almost as if mother nature decided to have pity on us for suffering through the terrible drought this past summer and let us have one more great day with family before she opened the flood gates and turned down the temperature. today was rainy, windy, and cold. perfect weather to pull out that ornament kit!

he gets this look of concentration from me. . .

and if she didn't have that bink in her mouth, you'd see her little tongue hanging out.
it's her sign of concentration, and she gets that from me too =P

iriebean's masterpieces! she did really well, huh?

and here are little man's! he's always been really great at this kinda stuff.

we started the tradition of adding a new ornament for each of us to the tree each year when irie was born. this will be the first year little miss will care to pick her own. and this little project might very well be a new tradition!

we're going to put the tree up tomorrow and the kids are uber excited about that. irie is just beside herself and she has no idea why, she just knows it must be excellent considering her big brother almost peed his pants at the idea. seriously, i love my kids.

what traditions make you so happy you risk peeing your pants?
