finally, the wedding: part II

10:06 AM

hello, stranger. wait, i'm the stranger, huh? i fell off the face of bloggy land to deal with my life as it turned upside down. . . in a good way! i got married!!! i'm the new mrs. KARSHENS! yay!! ok, i may or may not be done with the exclamation points.

i maintained my less-than-180 poundage right up until the night before my wedding. i even had a mild panic attack when i tried on my dress and realized that if i lifted my arms above my head, the whole gown fell to my waist. that was exciting and not at the same time. for reference, if you're planning on losing close to 30 pounds before your wedding day, you should make sure alterations are done to accommodate that loss=)

i had the most amazing brunch at my reception:

 everyone was happy=))

including me!

we made a gorgeous fruit salad with french yogurt dip. my lovely ladies baked banana chocolate chip, apple pie, zucchini, blueberry struesel, and pumpkin cream cheese muffins. central market provided a sun-dried tomato pesto, potato, and asparagus frittata along with 3 varieties of quiche: three-cheese, spinach and mushroom, and a classic quiche lorraine. my lovely familia helped make 6 (six. SIX.) creme brulee french toast casseroles. it was amazing!! i was not at all counting calories.

the next day, we headed to couples negril resort in jamaica for our all-inclusive 7 night honeymoon. every day was five-course meals and buffets, midnight snacks, and all-day open bars. i didn't skimp on portions, and i definitely didn't count those calories either.

we enjoyed breakfast delivered to our patio the first few mornings. we wanted to enjoy this view!

(we would have had a nice view of the beach, if it weren't a nude one. those bushes in the distance are quite necessary=))

then we discovered the breakfast buffet. oh man, the spinach - which they call callaloo - was AWESOME.  i ate it at every meal. they infuse their syrup with a different fruit each day. this particular day was banana. oh, and cheese! cheese, every meal, every day. chancellor ate his weight and mine in cheese.

FABULOUS lunch and dinner buffets.

amazing and authentic jamaican jerk chicken

sushi at the restaurant Lychee

eel... my favorite!

chicken pad thai, which i took back to my room because i couldn't stand for them to throw it away after meeting the happy, but hungry local kids.

coconut chicken soup with a big ass wooden ladle i wanted to steal. i could bathe in this soup.

lychee creme brulee. freakin' yum.

and apparently even the floral arrangements on the tables were appetizing=)

wish we had more photos of the amazing food, but we were so excited to try everything, we forgot about the camera most of the time.

it was such an amazing trip to paradise! i think you should all head over to the website (if you haven't already) or give them a call and book your reservation now. i'll wait. . .

. . .

. . .

. . .

ok, we may procede.

so, guess who could care less about her scale when she got home?

it took about 3 days to get over the severe depression that consumed us as soon as we stepped foot on boring ole, beachless, humid, foggy, rainy, lame ass austin soil. after i remembered that scales existed, and that i actually owned one, i would scowl at it from across the bathroom. stupid scale.

let's guess, a wild guess - how much did i gain after all of that fabulousness?

you'll never guess.

ten pounds.

what? i can barely read that?

10 pounds.

ok, seriously. how much did you gain?

10 pounds, ok.

whoa, dude. you gained 10 pounds?

yep, and i enjoyed every last bite. in a damn bikini, i might add.

(yes, that was a conversation between me and myself. the exact same one i had while my eyes bulged at the scale.)

however, it's been about a week since the argument with the scale and i've lost about 4 or 5 of those pounds. take that you stupid scale. i'm at 183. i've decided not to weigh myself today as yesterday was thanksgiving and there's really no need for any of that=))

we'll jump back on the healthy bandwagon monday! glad to be back in bloggy land, sure have missed y'all=))
