finally, the wedding: part I

5:40 PM

dude! what is up?! how has everyone been while i completely fell off the face of the earth? most of you know why, as you follow my personal facebook, but for those of you who haven't heard me say it a freakin' million times. . .

I GOT MARRIED!
i am the new MRS. KARSHENS!!

hell to the yeah, yo!

i was a bit of a lunatic for the few months leading up to the big day, and dare i say it, a bridezilla of sorts reared her awful, ugly head. actually, we'll call my behavior that of an ANTIbridezilla. remember, i didn't really want to have this huge event and chancellor let me opt out of it. . .  but then i just had to have a small get together with friends and family. . .  with brunch. . . that i made myself. . .

shit hit the proverbial fan. like, the biggest pile of shit ever.

i wasn't the bridezilla that needed everything to be perfect. i wasn't the bridezilla paying attention to too many details and micromanaging the fun out of everything. i was the ANTIbridezilla who didn't care about the details. i got to a point where i didn't care one bit how the whole thing would play out. i didn't care if people had sugar for their coffee, a fork to eat with, a place to sit. . . didn't care didn't care didn't care. i just wanted to walk up to my handsome man's set of blue eyes, tell him i love him and always will, kiss those gorgeous lips and book it to jamaica.

  • i was expecting the normal 60% of my invites to actually come. 92% RSVPd yes...
  • i was expecting to be able to decorate the venue by myself. i ended up handing all of my DIYed decorations to my mom's friend at the very last minute (8 hours before the reception) and hoped she would be able to get everything completed. she did, and it was beautiful.
  • i was expecting to make frittatas in 3 different flavors for 100 people. EPIC FAIL. my beautiful mother and aunt saved the day with catered quiche. and it was freakin' awesome!
  • i was expecting the weather to be nice and sunny. instead, it was humid and frizzed my hair. but it didn't rain and turn the dirt path into mud.
  • i was expecting that my ceremony would be one of the most memorable moments of my life. this went according to plan.
  • i expected for my reception to be a simple gathering of all of our favorite people. this, too, went according to plan.
ultimately, nothing went as expected except those last and most important points. everything turned out beautifully. absolutely, wonderfully, blissfully, perfectly imperfect.

it turned out exactly how i wanted it.
would you like to see?

and that's just the ceremony. pretty sure you know there's more where that came from=))
