legends {holy crap}

8:03 PM

something awesome happened today.

i didn't know it was awesome til about mid-way through what proved to be pretty. freakin. awesome.

did i mention it was AWESOME?

my awesome day started as any other day. headed to work thinking i would be late, as i'm always in a foggy, frantic rush, trying to get myself and my work stuffs together. had to pack the cooler for my clean food for the day. had to try and figure out what the hell i would wear 3 minutes before walking out the front door. do my hair in the half-assed way that has become the norm. give kisses to everyone, as i resolve to do my make-up in the car. forget to eat breakfast. . .

my  normal morning.

we chitted and chatted between customers at work, talking about our holiday weekend. i hopped up to help customers out front as they came in, as i always do.

then, it happened. the awesome i wouldn't be aware of until later. a charming british man walked in with a messy, curly ponytail, friendly blue eyes, and a witty accent. he was accompanied by a pretty face that seemed familiar to me, but i couldn't place her. she was soft spoken but smiled as she gave him opinions about different frames i showed the charming gentleman. he wanted the "buddy holly" look, which we have plenty of, and he wanted to know how quickly he could get them.

at one point, he looked at the price tag, and as we're a high-end boutique, he scoffed at the price in a charmingly british way.

"do you offer senior citizens a discount?"

"no, unfortunately we don't, but you aren't a senior citizen, so it wouldn't matter anyway."

we ha ha'd and chuckled as he narrowed down his choices.

he chose a fabulous mikli with a blue, shell type finish to it, which i told him looked great with his blue eyes. the pretty woman with him agreed and said she liked them best, as they made him look "handsome."

"oh shut it, you've already got the job, darling," he joked with her.

i went to the back and showed my co-worker lisa what the "cutest, older guy, with the cool accent and curly ponytail just got. you should go check it out on him."

she went to look.

i followed behind her a few seconds later.

i wish i had a camera to capture her face. and her coloring. she was as red as an apple and had the giddiest grin on her face. i could feel the angst radiating off her. teenage angst. i could tell she was trying so hard not to jump up and down, she was so excited. then she handed him "the book."

the book o' autographs.

"hmmm." i thought to myself. "who is this?"

lisa escaped to the back to check on lenses for him, while i finished typing up his order. i had to run to the back to grab something figure out who the hell she just asked to sign "the book."

before i had a chance to ask her, she growled in a teenage-angst type whisper yell:

"it's robert plaaaaaaaaaaant!"

pretty. freakin. awesome, huh?

ok, but i still didn't know it. of course, i know the name "robert plant" i just couldn't quite remember what brain folder i filed it away in.

"ok, i think i know who robert plant is, but maybe i don't know who robert plant is."

"are you serious."
it really wasn't a question, more of an accusation.

"yeah, i'm kinda serious. just tell me."

"uh, singer of led zeppelin you f-ing idiot."

oh yeah. "holy shit! that's f-ing awesome!"

"and is that patty griffin?!"

"yeah!"

"whoa, dude, tiffany's gonna be so pissed she isn't here today." tiffany's is HUGE fan of the patty griffin.

wanna see the pictures we snapped as we accosted him with a camera?

that's me and robert plant. the lead singer of led zeppelin. i will never forget this piece of information.

lisa with robert plant. please note that he has his arm around her. she likes this part of the picture. she told me later that robert plant kissed her when she was in high school after she waited with friends to get his autograph at the airport. wait, twice he kissed her. once. then again, complete with a dip. that hand on her shoulder kinda pales in comparison.

sharon taylor with robert plant. her birthday was saturday, and we usually do cake. but we waited til today for that cake, and so technically today was her celebrated birthday. robert plant came to santa fe optical just for sharon's birthday.

that's a complete lie. but don't tell anyone.

our grins from ear to ear completely cancels out that kinda pouty grimace on his face, so...

awesome. awesome. awesome.

patty griffin had left, so we didn't get a picture of her)=
but i have some videos i found on youtube if you'd like to watch those and you can just imagine me sitting there next to her.

tiffany's favorite song.

mine.

robert plant and patty griffin performing together, while patty dances like tiffany.

awesome. freaking awesome
