{a late} weekly weigh-in

8:56 PM

i've been eating clean for the last week and can i just say, there is definitely a sense of pride when you load all of that produce and healthy stuff at the check out=)) irie and i went to central market last night and spent most of our time in the produce section checking out all the colors. and tasting the fruit. she especially liked that part. after we hunted and gathered as our ancestors did (but not at all like our ancestors did) we had dinner and listened to live music on the patio. at the grocery store. i LOVE austin.

for dinner, i had whole wheat spaghetti with grilled chicken, roasted garlic, toasted pine nuts, sun dried tomatoes, and asparagus tossed in garlic oil. pretty freakin' awesome. and then the not-so-clean sangria to go with it. scratch that, it was as clean as an adult beverage can get=))

irie enjoyed picking at her sandwich and eating her fruit. we're HUGE fruit eaters in these parts.

i've been trying to cook at home as much as possible, or at least prepare at home.

usually:

for breakfast, we have half an organic "sprouted" english muffin (found in the freezer section) topped with honey almond butter and half a banana. when chancellor makes it, double that. this is probably the reason i haven't lost more than 1 pound this week. he never really thinks of portion sizes. we're working on it though! oh, and my french pressed coffee with creamer - coffeemate natural bliss (only four natural ingredients. i already had it in my fridge before we started this whole thing. haven't looked into it too much to see if i should find a substitute yet.)

for my morning snack i eat 1/2 cup of low-fat cottage cheese mixed with 1/2 cup low-fat organic vanilla yogurt - yum. (today for lunch, i mixed in almonds and blueberries, and that made for even more yum!)

for lunch, i eat a salad with grilled chicken, veggies, and organic vinaigrette, or shrimp tacos on corn tortillas with cabbage.

for my afternoon snack, i'll have hummus with veggies or fruit with string cheese.

for dinner, we've tried grilled chicken with veggies and sloppy joes (yum), or subway if we're either in a hurry or don't feel like cooking.

i've noticed that although it feels like i'm hungry all day, when i really started paying attention my hunger was coming every 2-3 hours, which, luckily, is the point. (boy, was that a run-on) i get to eat when i'm feeling hungry without feeling guilty, or like a pig=)

like i said before, we weren't worried about the eating part of this change, more the preparation for making those healthy choices. a 9 pm run to the store, although less hectic, might not have been the best idea, as i then had to come home and grill 3 lbs. of chicken, cut up a bunch of veggies, make salads, and mix yogurt. it'll take practice, but it's something i've been wanting to do for a long, long time. although, cohen is four, this whole "cooking meals in the kitchen for my family of four" idea hasn't quite settled in with me just yet. maybe i should go buy an apron.

so, i lost that stupid pound i gained last week - looking forward to losing more, and gaining radiance and energy next week=))
