weddin' venue day trip

8:11 PM

i thought i had found the jackpot when i happened upon hacienda del lago down the street from my casa. i was lucky enough to find it when they first decided to start renting their home for lodging and special events, so the rate seemed fabulous. the hacienda is a sweet little bungalow atop a hill overlooking the lake and the grounds are GORGEOUS. the fabulous white peacocks roaming the grounds are pretty awesome too. even if they sound like dying cats when they talk to each other. had i chosen this venue, i'm pretty positive that dying cat would wail in the middle of my "hell yeah, i do!"

don't you want to live there?

i mean, seriously, can't you see yourself with your coffee in the morning on that porch?

and this handsome stud in your well manicured, circular driveway? oh wait. no. don't imagine him there, that's my dream.

check out that view!

this would be the spot where the ceremony would be held. there's a natural arch in the branches with the lake and hills just behind you... pretty sure sun sets there too. i really wanted that picture!

i had to restrain myself because the impulse to take off my shoes and do a bunch of cartwheels was pretty overwhelming. aren't you proud i had the shoes on in the first place?

at first he didn't want to have anything to do with me.

and then he saw my camera.

check him out in the corner. when he knew there'd be a photo op if he stuck with me, he was in EVERY PICTURE THERE AFTER. paparazzi whore of a bird. just in spite of him, i will not include those pictures. take that. bird. dying-cat sounding, conceited bird.

it's seriously beautiful. i'd say the pictures don't do it justice, but i quite like my pictures =) editing them for this post reminded me that i wanted to invest in bad ass real estate somewhere awesome and let people pay me to stay there. mortgage paid in one weekend.

they offer great packages that allow you to stay the whole weekend, and the kitchen is fabulous. i instantly envisioned the damage my wedding party would do to it the night before, and of the wedding. only kidding. at the time of this visit they weren't offering anything other than the grounds and the home.... now, they offer tents and all that jazz. that might have changed my mind a bit. only a bit though, because i ultimately found the best one for us, for a lot less money... but i'm a tease and you'll have to wait to see what we've chosen.
