bed, please.
10:00 PMit's almost late o'clock and instead of laying in my new comfy bed, i'm typing on a keyboard in my living room about it.
a few weeks ago, chancy pants and i decided that we were in dire need of a new bed.
no. scratch that.
a few years ago, chancy pants and i decided we were in dire need of a new bed, and a few weeks ago, our bodies could take it no longer. the pain and suffering we endured during and after what should have been 8 hours of bliss, was unbearable. we have two children under the age of 4. this translates to: we are beyond exhausted at any point of any day. the two of us should have been able to pass out on a bed of nails. y'know, that would have been more comfortable than our bed, and less noisy. our old frame squeeked like an army of seals at a fish market when we'd look in its direction, nevermind the ruckus our entire apartment complex became aware of when we'd sit down on it.
so, we went out, laid on maybe 3 different mattresses, and bought the 4th. it isn't as much fun to try out mattresses with a GG (grumpy gramps) adult male regressing to age 3, an actual 3 year old with more energy than the sun who doesn't understand why we need to lay down "SOOOOO MANYYYY TIIIIMES", and an 18 month old who all of a sudden acquired the hugest crush on her daddy and wouldn't let him put her down. oh, and it's no fun in regular clothes. i don't know why we weren't all in our pjs, cause that WAS the plan.
our plan was also to get a simple headboard that we could enjoy temporarily while living in our apartment and then get something fabulous when we buy a house. so, we visited good ol' ikea and found a cheapo bed, that was on sale from last year's cheapo price, and then realized, as usual, that nothing we purchased would fit in the car.... so, it ended up being the same price as last year's after paying for the delivery service. but, oh well. it was all about the mattress anyway.
COULD. NOT. WAIT.
it arrived, bed frame first=), and irie and i put it together by ourselves while chancellor was at work. well, i put it together and she danced. it took about 2 weeks for us to acclimate to "support" rather than slowly rolling into the sunken middle of an obscenely loud mattress taco, and now i lub-a-dub it!
but of course, i want it prettier. i mean, dude. look at all these lovely bits of heaven.
i've found some tutorials online trying to convince me that i am capable of making a bedspread like this. pretty sure i'll think long and hard about trying it. just bought my first sewing machine though, so baby steps. . .
i live here. this is my house. ok, fine. but someday.
has a muted moroccan vibe. in love with moroccan style.
love the rustic look of the unfinished wood, with the clean look of the linens, and the frilly of the chandelier. chancy pants would never let me have a chandelier. . . . well, he wouldn't admit that he'd like it anyway.
diggin' these colors!
maybe one day, when my laundry is actually hung in my closet rather than waiting patiently to be put away, i'll show you our bedroom. . . before we redo it into beautiful.
