get crafty

8:06 PM

my soon-to-be hubby has recently started a new business making art-like things using cigar paraphernalia (now really, do we NEED that "r"). he's been collecting cigar bands and labels, cigar boxes and vintage pieces and he's found a super unique and kick ass way to release all of his creative energy which you see on his website. he's totally stoged about it. i'm jealous. i've always had that creative streak in me, but for some reason, unknown to me, i never just jump in with both feet into any one project. instead, i'm addicted to craft blogs and i've turned what should be my daughter's bedroom into a tomb where supplies go to die.

now, in my defense, it is not just me.... chancellor puts it there. if it were completely up to me, i'd just leave it all in it's neat original pile in the living room. and you know, i bet if it were in my face i'd get to it more often.  and also, it isn't like my daughter is just left stranded without a bed to sleep in or something... her bed is in our room.

UPDATE:  her bed is in HER room (along with all of the dying craft supplies) and i plan on taking a tylenol PM to enjoy the heaven i will experience tonight with silence and joy and heavenly silent joy. most likely though, i'll just stay slightly awake and wonder whether she'll be ok in the morning when she realizes we aren't there to throw things at from her perch in her crib like an angry squirrel in a park with a stockpile of acorn ammo. ok, maybe i'll double up on they tylenol PM.

so off that tangent and back to - what was i talking about?

ah yes, creative jealousy.  well, after much encouragement from chancey pants, i have started and mostly completed a few things that i'm actually quite proud of and excited about. there is this one thing that i totally and 100% completely finished.

. . .drumroll please. . .

it's a cigar band bangle and i love it.

it was actually pretty easy to complete and didn't take too much time but i love the way it turned out. i think the orange ribbon really pulled everything together. i think you want one.

chancey pants took the liberty of taking these wonderful pictures, which i'm pleased about, but then put them on his etsy. uh hello! this is a MAJOR accomplishment for me, it should be on MY etsy. oh yeah. that's yet another mostly completed project. well, it's just about a teaspoon of estrogen added to his totally stoged cigar and manly testosterone collection. i might have taken liberties with that name but y'know.  an eye for a pinkie or something like that. i'm just excited i finished something!! and touched that chancey pants thought it was good enough to sell.

i need to get my butt in gear and finish up all the other projects i've mostly completed!
